I cannot avoid English finally
I’m going to work with non-Japanese speakers from March 2023. I have hardly used English, but I finally cannot avoid English.
I hear that they work from their country at first and they will come to Japan if they get ready. I wonder if I should learn English seriously, not just read English articles.
Might Substack not be good for Japanese users?
By the way, almost all Substack users are using English. I know a few newsletters are written in Japanese, but many are written in English. In addition, as far as I know, many writers live in the U.S.
Indeed, some features of Substack don’t support Japanese, for example, the default OGP image cannot show Japanese characters, and every UI is provided only in English. I like Substack, however, in reality, few Japanese people use it. I realize for the first time why people would like to use note thanks to using Substack.
I won't write the newsletter in English. I like writing in Japanese and that is more important than increasing the number of readers. However, this style is not friendly to neither Japanese speakers nor English speakers, so I may rethink the way.
Why do I need to think about using English?
I need to think about English whenever(both working and hobby) I just want to live in Japan. This is why I don’t like English.
I always think that if there were no revolutions in Europe, I wouldn't have to study English, or some other language would be in general.
I write the above sentences, but I received many contributions from Grammarly and DeepL Write. It might be better if ChatGPT or Notion AI wrote it.
After all, no matter what I say, I may have to learn English until I die, because many technologies of the past cannot fully solve our communication problems.
Anyway, this essay has just been finished. As the title suggests, the Japanese translation will not follow.
